Your body doesn’t have to be able to do anything at all in order to justify its existence and the way it is. All bodies deserve to be treated with respect and care, no qualifiers required.
Even if the way your body is was entirely “your fault” (none of us really gets to control our appearance – positively or negatively – as much as we might think), it and you still deserve to be treated with respect and care. You don’t need to have certain skills or a certain level of health for this to be the case.
Your worth is not a performative act. It just is. Society isn’t at its ideal point of actually providing all the human rights it supposedly enshrines, but we can hold it, and us, to a higher standard.
All bodies deserve respect and care. Yes, this definitely includes yours.
