What can I expect from an initial consultation?
We’ll talk about your previous experiences with exercise, your injury and health history, and what kinds of things you’d like to work on and what kind of support you find helpful. You’ll also receive a brief questionnaire. There is no exercise involved in the initial consultation, it’s really just a chat.
What if I have an existing injury?
We can work around just about any injury you might have, and a lot of people find that continuing to stay active and increase strength without irritating the affected area helps them manage or reduce their pain as well as increasing their capacity for engaging in activities they care about. I believe in a team approach, and with your consent will communicate with your treating physio etc to ensure you get the best possible outcome from working together.
Do I need weights or a home gym to train online?
We can get started without any extra equipment, just using things you have around the house and your own body, but as we progress you may like to purchase some weights and bands. I can help with suggestions (and marketplace is a great resource for second hand equipment if you’re on a budget).
What if I’m really unfit?
That’s totally okay! We will start where you are and build up slowly. As we go along we’ll keep communicating about how the sessions are feeling and what level of challenge you feel ready for.
What if I want to lose weight?
Irrespective of body size and shape, I work with people to increase their strength, fitness and energy levels, build a positive relationship with physical activity and find sustainable health-promoting behaviours that work for them.
Being physically active has so many benefits for our bodies and brains that can have a really positive impact on our health and wellbeing regardless of what happens on the scale.
Of course, you get to make your own choices about your own body, so while I practice from a size inclusive paradigm and don’t promote intentional weight loss, I will always treat you and your choices with respect.
In practice this approach means that I won’t comment on what you look like, won’t take before and after photos, won’t ask you to weigh or measure yourself and won’t make assumptions about what you can and can’t do based on your body. What I will do is listen to you, encourage you, celebrate your fitness and self-care wins and be in your corner to support you.
Can you help me with nutrition?
Despite how commonly it occurs, it’s actually outside the professional scope of practice of personal trainers to provide meal plans or personalised nutrition advice. I can however refer you to one of my network of brilliant Non Diet dietitians so that you know you’re getting information from someone who is properly qualified in this area, eating disorder informed and not just trying to sell you a quick fix.
What are your prices?
30 minute sessions are $95.70 each, or 8 weeks for $704 (once weekly, saving $61) or $1,320 (twice weekly, saving $211)

Do you take Medicare?
Unfortunately personal training is not covered under Medicare. Some private health insurers offer a small rebate, it’s worth checking with yours if you have private health cover.
